How to blog & make money blogging

Mindset Of A Blogger

List building for bloggers

If there is one activity I believe every blogger must engage in to ensure they make money blogging it is list building. Even if you are using a blog to promote an affiliate product it is important you take the time to set up messages so that people can stay in touch. It is a well known marketing lesson that people don’t always buy on their first visit plus some people are naturally curious and may want to know more about the product and/or the person promoting the product before they buy. The easiest way to make that happen is to build a list.

If you decide to blog and build a list it also serves so many other purposes

Build your income

A person who buys from you once is more likely to buy again as long as they are happy. If you are recommending great affiliate products then it will be easy enough for you to promote other products that people buy. When I first started online some people made all their money this way – without a website they simply built a list of people interested in a particular topic e.g. health and then promoted a range of products within the health niche. It was simple and yet very effective.

Build relationships

If you are looking to take on new clients your list can help you focus on building a relationship with the people who are on it. They can find out more about you, connect with you on other places on the web and take their time in getting to know you. At some point when you recommend a product and/or service there is more chance of them buying it from you because of the relationship you have together.

Do you have to build a list as a blogger? The simple answer is yes, if you want to build a regular income for yourself. Your blog may make you small amounts of income from adsense or banner ads but the real long term income can only really exist if you have a collection of people on your list who receive information from you.

Learn about list building for bloggers

If you are interested in learning more about this important area and you want to ensure you get it right I recommend the Phil Hollows eBook which will take you through everything you need to know.  In effect what he is teaching here is how to turn your blog from a simple system that allows you to write blog posts into an email marketing and automation online business that will make you a regular source of income.

If you are not making money with a blog right now could it be a simple case of missing something? Sometimes a little tweak can make a huge difference and for your blog it could be that you simply need to add a subscription form to your blog so people can stay in touch.

If you hate the new Facebook chat sidebar just hide it

There have been a number of people making a huge fuss about the new Facebook chat that appears in your right hand sidebar (people are starting groups and pages called we hate the new chat put the old one back!) and if you hate it then it is easy enough to hide. I just found it very distracting but maybe with any change it is just a case of getting used to what’s new…. Anyway, this is how you can hide it.

All you do is go down to the right and click on the little icon which brings up the option to hide it and it disappears.

Then whenever you want to bring it back just click on CHAT and it reappears

Click on the word Chat and the icon reappears

It is that simple.

Am starting a blogging platform for local businesses

how to blog using influenceA few weeks ago my two year love affair with Blog Success came to an abrupt end and I found myself with so much free time even I couldn’t believe it! I caught a bit of day time TV and logged off at 6pm (that was a nice change) and generally allowed myself some space to enjoy the free time before deciding what to do next.

After 5 years of regular blogging I have decided to set up my own blogging platform. I have used a domain I bought last year when I first started thinking about being an influencer and what it took to provide value why earning residual income – so it only seemed right that I used that domain

http://influencer.biz

Influencer is a social blogging platform that is premium space only. It has been set up for all those business people I meet who have no web presence or they are on wordpress.com or blogger.com and are not generating any visitors/leads they can use for their business.

I have become really good at local SEO and will be driving traffic to each members website. As well as getting potential business coming to them they will also be able to

- set up and promote their own products
- set up and run a forum with their blog
- depending on their level of membership they will also be able to run a membership site or a business directory to build residual income

Full support is available to everyone inside the site so if they get stuck they can ask. I am really proud of this platform and will be including access to my local marketing toolkit as part of the membership. Anyone that has already bought the toolkit will get access so they can start their own blog.

Everyone gets access to premium WordPress themes and I am currently moving my clients over to the platform as well as my blogs. Plus I am putting up blogs and writing content so that I can eventually sell them to a business owner like this one

Personal Trainer In Finchley

Influencer opens in the next few weeks or so – its been delayed because Microsoft Office 365 came along and I had to explore that too – and when it does it isn’t a site only for UK local businesses/professionals, any local business is welcome. Once you start writing content and we know who you are looking to target then we will begin the job of getting you found online.

My main focus now is to do plenty of traffic generation/ SEO on the whole site to get it up in the search engines, and I will spend a few weeks on that and then get ready to promote.  I hope you decide to join me in one of those three!
