List building for bloggers using the list building blueprint

Rather than call it a list let’s call it what we need – which is an online audience. This is about audience development and is a vitally important part of your business.

An authority blogger needs an audience. Start with 7 building up to 700, focus on 7000 and build an audience of 70,000

It starts with that first person!

Without a list you really do not have a business.  I remember watching Criminal Minds not too long ago about a woman who was a high class hooker and she had sold her “list” of clients for millions. She told them “every hooker knows the value in having a list – it is their retirement fund!”

If high class hookers know it then as an authority blogger shouldn’t you!

What can you do with your own list?

Well to begin with you can tell them about your next offline or online event – rather than chase around for an audience your list becomes your audience.

You can promote your latest product or a product as an affiliate – a list of 1,000 people, one email, one push of a button and a 15% take up of people buying a $97 product that you get 50% commission on – you do the math!

Your blog IS NOT your business! Always remember that your blog is your vehicle. Your list and it’s response to what you have to say is your real business because if no one responds and/or buys anything you are not in business!

With all this talk of making money I want to stress one important thing that you will definitely have understood by now if you have been reading parts of this blog.  Authority blogging is about providing value, expertise and knowledge first and money second – always – no exceptions!

Understand you are giving people want they want and helping them

“I hate when people ask me to give my name and email address to download something!” – that’s a statement people have said to me who want to be bloggers! I told them get over it or get out of the business.  Remember we are Authority Bloggers not spammers – what we are giving away is high quality, high value information – not some reused, rehashed stuff that makes no sense!

This is as bad as someone who wants to be an affiliate marketer but doesn’t like it when someone sends them an affiliate link…..!!!!!

You can not succeed at something you have limits/blocks around so if you really do hate signing up for stuff and yet you want people to sign up for your stuff you need to focus on what WILL make you sign up to receive information or what has in the past and create your signup in that way.

Do you value your content? If you do why wouldn’t you want to shout to the heavens and tell everyone about it?

All you are doing is asking people to stay in touch with you so you can give them great information about what you know. Why would someone not want to stick around for that???
