Don’t give up on your dream to make money with a blog

make money with a blog

To make money with a blog you need determination

I have been working with and coaching people who want to make money with a blog since 2007 and whether they are in business or a mother who wants to make some extra money a month the unsuccessful ones all have something in common. Excuses!

It is so easy to get lost in excuses when your desire is to make money with a blog and its only natural. I read something that said we are programmed to not want to work towards a goal even if we truly believe we want it. The root is that is usually our fear of failure but not always, if you spend some time looking at why you are not doing what needs to be done you will find that deep down there is a bigger reason than “not enough time.”

That is why in life you may find that you start something then give up, or you start then stop then start again. I am going through this myself with exercise. I tried to work towards healthy eating and being fit but it was too much to tackle at once so during 2010 I started exercising but focused mainly on my eating habits. It took me ages to battle the way I eat and how much I eat but I got there. I still have good and bad days. I also have good and bad times of the day (night time is my snacking danger zone!) – but the key here is that I got there in the end.

Now, I have thrown myself 100% into working on my fitness level and improving that. I find myself making excuse after excuse – everything from the weather to feeling bloated that day to avoid exercise. My biggest excuse is “too much work!”

I went back through all my old training material – especially my NLP stuff that I really haven’t used since 2005 and that reminded me of something that I hope helps you with your desire to make money with a blog:

1. I need to interrupt my pattern and do something different
I always switch my computer on as soon as I wake up – now I have to exercise before I allow myself to switch it on. Works most days :)

If you struggle with writing blog posts on a regular basis you might want to switch your computer on, sit down, log in to your blog (set your blog to be your homepage) and write a blog post. Then go do what you usually do when you wake up. If you usually grab a cup of coffee don’t allow yourself that first cup until you have written something. It will drive you crazy but keep trying and be persistent. No blog post, no coffee.

2. You slip up, go back to old habits but always try again
Every time I slip up with exercise and don’t exercise for a week or more I simple start again. Every time I am starting again from a stronger position. I will keep starting again until I get into this habit…. !

With you right now you might have 10 posts on your blog. Every 5 days a week for 2 weeks you right a blog post before your coffee then you slip up. For a week you write nothing. When you go back you are in a strong position because now your blog has 20 blog posts.

Every time you slip up and go back you start from a better place than you were before and as you blog more you will begin to see traffic come in and people sign up to be on your list, you might even make your first $2 on adsense – this is the stuff that will motivate you to keep going.

I am so determined to transform my health through my fitness that I refuse to give up.

You need to be so determined to transform your finances through your blog that you refuse to give up. Remember its a journey, when you are making six figures a year and you know how to easily make money with a blog will get bored and think “what’s next?” – so enjoy the journey and enjoy the struggle because you will look back with hindsight and remember what it took to get you to your six figure income.

When I finally get my Beyonce body I know I will look back and enjoy my new body because it took me so much effort to get there! :)

Whether you have set your blog up to promote your business, share your expertise or sell affiliate products it is 100% guaranteed that you can use your blog to make money when you learn how to blog and you understand that what it takes is persistance and the desire to succeed.
