Some background for you

31 Days to Build A Better Blog was created after Darren Rowse asked his Twitter following whether they had any interest in  a month of concentrated teaching and practical exercises on improving their blogs. Who would say no to that! Over 13,000 bloggers signed up and so the 31 days to build a better blog challenge was born!

But of course signing up and actually getting round to taking action and doing what is being taught are two different things and to bridge that gap Darren deciding to create the manual which will give bloggers an opportunity to follow along at their own pace.

What’s included in the package?

A 94 page manual that takes you through how to improve your blog over 31 days. It includes tips on increasing blog traffic and things you can do to get yourself noticed online. From guest posting to finding a blog buddy it is all right there for you to use and take advantage of in a step by step format that anyone can easily follow.

Now if you are wondering “How am I going to find a blog buddy?” well don’t worry because included in the package is access to the Problogger Community Site – where you can engage with other bloggers and of course find yourself a buddy!

Along with the manual and the community if you are quick (before 19th January) you can also enjoy some extra bonuses in the shape of an hour long question and answer session that Darren Rowse recorded and is available in both audio and pdf transcript. Now I read through the transcript and if you miss out on this it really isn’t a big deal – he refers back to the 31 day manual anyway so everything you need is included in there. Its a nice bonus if you can get it but not essential.

The manual is broken down so each day you receive a task for the day and tips, information and knowledge about why that task is important and how to go about implementing it.  There is also room for you to add your own notes if you choose to print it off.

Will Build A Better Blog Work From Me?

Let’s be honest, knowing how to build a better blog so you end up being able to make money blogging isn’t easy and when it comes to learning about how to become a professional blogger knowing how to make money blogging is often a bloggers biggest goal but not everyone succeeds.

The reason why many don’t is because:

  • They don’t truly understand what it takes to develop a successful blog (all that remote blogging, link building and blog post writing!)
  • They immediately focus on wanting to make money with their blog in the short term rather than looking at other short term objectives which will provide more success.  Problogger covers what they are in his manual but as a hint it is all about setting your focus on IMPROVING your blogs performance!
  • They want it now and overnight – blogging isn’t always the best profession for overnight income, well at least if you are building an authority blog. From reading Darren’s manual it did strike me as a manual for people looking to become authority bloggers or at least build a decent content driven blog rather than set up RSS type blogs.

If you are ready to change your mindset  from “I need to make money” to “I want to improve my blog my doing X” then yes it will work for you. This isn’t a “how to make money blogging” manual it is more of a “if I do this on a consistent basis I will get results” manual!

Any Negatives?

Do you seriously want me to say something negative about The Godfather – I don’t want to find a horse head in my bed!

Okay, there is just one thing! The font is really small which makes it difficult to read and I had to increase it significantly then spend my time scrolling to read it. Doing my best to contribute to this paper-less society everyone keeps talking about I didn’t want to print it but I will have to because its a little difficult to read on the screen. Not that I would use that as an excuse to stop me taking action of course!

Is this for you?

I know you want to enjoy building a profitable blog that will make you money – why else would you have read this far? And I also know that by following the information contained in the “31 days to build a better blog” manual you will see a significant difference in your blog – I know this because today I became part of the community and have been reading the experiences.

If you are not just a talker and you seriously want to know how to build a better blog then get yourself a copy of 31 days to build a better blog by problogger Darren Rowse and see for yourself. At the time of writing this the price – at under $20 – really is (to use a phrase that really drives me crazy) a no brainer!

Can I ask a question?

I am doing my best to improve my review skills. I am only going to review products that I have bought and I can see are providing value to the people using them. So what do you think of this review? I value your feedback. Did it make you want to buy this product? If not, why not. Thanks for your time :)

Are You At Risk by Stephen Pierce

How do you feel about risk taking?

Running your own successful online business is something we can all achieve – if one person can then we all can! But one of the things that can hinder our success is how adverse to risk we are. Risk taking is such a powerful mindset stopper that it could stop people from ever getting further with their blog than writing a few blog posts!

So when I received an email from Stephen Pierce about a free report he had written that asks the question “Are you at risk?” I had to have a read and as always in typical Pierce fashion it is an insightful free report that will get you thinking about what might be subconsciously stopping you from taking the risks you need to take in your online business

There is a great “risk worksheet” at the end that allows you to explore risk as it applies to your particular situation so take the time to go through that.

Your perspective on risk could be having a huge impact on hindering your progression online so take some time out and really read through this free report. I know you want to run a blog that provides you with all the income you desire and in order to help that happen you may have to overcome some limits you have around risk taking!

5 Ways to inject soul into a new blog

Chris Brogan wrote a great blog post about the soul of a new business and it made me wonder about the soul of a new blog.

All blogs are unique because they are written with a different voice. It is the only thing that makes us all different as bloggers, but is it enough? Obviously not otherwise we will all be as popular as Chris Brogan :)

So what else does it take to give your blog a soul? How much more do you have to do to help yourself stand out from the crowd?
